Sambasadashiva Temple

Sri Sambasadashiva temple is situated on the banks of Varahi river in the Sauda area of Karnataka. The river flows behind the temple. The temple dates back to a thousand years. The shivling of the temple is unique in that it is made from Saligrama stone with golden stripes on it. The idol of Nandi facing Lord Sambasadashiva is carved from a single stone and that of Lord Venkataramana facing north is carved from Saligrama stone. The legacy of the temple shows out in its surroundings, although the temple is badly damaged by floods now. The Shankaranarayana temple, a half kilometer from Sri Sambasadashiva temple is a place worth visiting.
