Hanuman Ji Temple

Overview


Hanuman Ji Temple is located at the Gate of Chandpole, in the Jaipur district of Rajasthan, India.


About the diety


Sri Hanuman ji graces in this temple facing the direction south. The vigraha of the lord is 5 1/2' tall and 3 1/4' wide. The idol is washed with Vermillion paste making it vermillion colored, called the "Chola" or covering.


About the Temple


The king who had constructed this shrine was believed to be an ardent devotee of Lord Hanuman, who is regarded as an embodiment of power, devotion and wisdom.

This temple has a tall Shikhar approximately 25 feet in height with Kalashas decorating its top. The walls of the Shikhar are engraved with pictures depicting scenes from the Ram Charitha Manas. The Sanctrum-Sanctorum and the prayer hall of the temple are equally enchanting with artistically carved designs. The worship hall has charming mirror works depicting Chitrakuta where Tulsidas is seen making Sandal paste, while Lord Rama applies a tilak on Tulsi's forehead. A picture of infant Sri Ram is also depicted here. The ceiling of the temple carries the picture of Lord Sri Ram and Sita, seated on the Royal throne with three brothers and Hanuman next to them.

Lord Hanuman is not only worshipped by the Hindus, but is also held in high esteem by the people from the Jain and Sikh communities. Devotees regard Hanumanji as a saviour who protects them from impending dangers and troubles.


Rare Fact


Lord Hanuman ji here is said to be very popular among the masses. Several devotees throng this temple, especially on Tuesdays and Saturdays to get the divine darshan of the Lord. The 'Chola’ idol of the deity is also a distinct feature of this shrine. Devotional hymns from Ramayan, Sunderkanda and Hanuman Chalisa are regularly recited here by the devotees.

Meaning -We salute Lanka's horror, Anjana's brave son, who ended Sita's sorrows, the ruler of monkeys and the one who killed Aksha, Ravana's son.
