Badami, located in the Bagalkot district of North Karnataka, was the capital of the Chalukya Dynasty. It is located at the mouth of a beautiful canyon, verged on either side by beautiful sandstone hills.
From Airport one can hire prepaid taxi or take a bus to reach Badami which is directly connected via road to Belgaum. The bus stand is located in the center of the town. There are buses for Gadag, Bijapur, Bangalore and Hospet.
There is a small station in Badami which is located 5 km from the center. Trains from Bangalore, Bijapur and other cities stop there regularly. From the station, there are many rickshaws to reach the center.
Nearest airport to Badami is in Belgaum which is located at a distance of 190 km from here.
