The Veerabhadra Swamy temple that is situated in a village called Hanumanthapuram is one of the important sites near Chengalpet. According to Hindu mythology, Veerabhadra was born out of Lord Shiva's sweat when He was angry with his father-in-law Daksha. He created Veerabhadra in order to kill Daksh.
