The Uthamaraya Perumal Temple is located in Peria Aiyampalayam and is dedicated to God Uthamaraya Perumal. This temple is in the midst of mountains atop a hill and there are a total of 300 steps to reach the temple. The presiding deity is in the form of Balyamurthy (young boy) as he gave Darshan to a young boy. There is a shrine for Vaishnava Acharya in the front mandap. The kings of Vijayanagara have renovated this temple. According to legend there was a young boy, who was dumb, grazing his sheep on this mountain when an old man approached him. The boy did not see this man before and thought who he was. The man asked the boy to go inform the villagers of his arrival. The boy went and spoke to the villagers with full clarity about this strange man and his blessing. The people rushed to the mountain and found God Vishnu holding his discus and conch. The God was revered as Uthamaraya Perumal as he manifested in front of a young boy and also blessed him with the ability to speak.
