The Sri Tiruvengadam Udayan Temple is located in Ariyakudi and is dedicated to God Sri Tiruvengadam Udayan. This temple was set up by the Nattukottai Nagarathar community. The well known Ganesha temple in Pillayarpatti is just 15 kilometers away from this temple. There once lived an ardent Vishnu devotee in this community by the name Sevukan Chettiar. People who visited him carried their offerings to place it in the hundi and this hundi was carried by the Chettiar each year on his head and placed at the temple at Tirupathi temple. He walked the whole way to Tirupathi each year and during one such voyage he fainted. The compassionate God manifested before him and said that the God himself will come to his place. As per the God's direction Chettiar went towards the direction of west and found a Tulsi plant and coconut shell signifying the God's place. As the clearing of the land to erect the temple began the idol of the God was unearthed. The devotee did not want to place the God as in Tirupathi so he installed him along with his consorts Sridevi and Bhoodevi. The famous temple of God Thiruvengadam udayan in then tirupati ariyakudi.
