Sri Nithya Kalyani temple

Overview : The Nithya Kalyani Ambal temple is the main deity of Goddess Nithya Kalyani.The interesting fact about the temple is that the temple finds a place in Kapila Puranam and a very famous sage named Sundaramurthy Nayanat has sung in praise of the Goddess of the temple.At the Nithya Kalyani Ambal Vilvaranyeswarar temple was worshipped by the great King named Dasaratha Maharaja, who worshipped in their temple for getting a child.There is another festival in the western ghats forest hill which is named as Sastha temple and is believed to be a powerful temple.Sarabanga Mamuni Sunai theertham is the small hillock or the pushkar and there is also a Mani mandapam where Natarajar with Sivakami Ammai can be seen. About the Temple : There are other deities also present like Sri Chandrashekara, Sri Soundra Nayaki, Sri Dakshina Moorthy and Somaskanda Murthy.The Parivaara Devadhas were installed in the year of 1216AD as per the inscriptions which are there on the walls of the temple.In the temple there are many stone inscriptions found which says that the temple was developed by the Madurai Nayakars.The Vilva tree is the Sthala vruksham and theertham and is believed to be about 300 years old.It is also believed that if someone breaks a fruit that is a Vilvam fruit from the tree they can find a Lingam shape inside and that can not be seen in any of the other Vilva fruit.The temple is said to be one of the Theevaara Vaippu Sthalam of God Shiva and the main Raja Gopuram is of seven storeys which has three prakarams and it is also said that the Peetam is a Dharani Peetam.It is believed that Goddess Nithya Kalyani was very powerful and all the pujas done in the temple were not done in a perfect manner as desired by the Goddess and this led to a lot of miss happenings. This resulted a fear in the devotees and that fear made them staying away, visiting and worshipping at the temple.An experienced Brahmin in Veda who was from Sringagiri and who did Santhi that is propitious ceremonies of Goddess which resulted in some of her powers which passed away into the peetam and there was a new shrine which was constructed towards the South.It is believed that Goddess is a symbol of Wealth, happiness, well being and Anantha Kalyana Gunas to all the devotees who worship in this temple and also for them who performed pujas for the Goddess and since then she was known as Nithya Kalyani which means a symbol of well being to all the devotees and everyone. Legend/Story : The King of Ayodhya Sree Dasaratha Maharaja was roaming in praying and worshipping all the gods just in search of getting a child and worshipped in almost all the temples spotted him to help him getting a child. Then king Dasaratha Maharaja went to the Bilwa forest which is in Kadayam, when king was going inside the forest he found a Suyambu Lingam he then prayed to God Shiva. Thus this God was named as Bilwa Vana Nathar that means God of Bilwa forest.But later as the time passed this name changed to Sree Vilvaranyeswarar and with the consort named Nithya kalyani Amman.

Meaning -Salutations to the Goddess who resides as Shakti in all beings.
