History of The Temple
The shrine was constructed by Narasimha Swamiji in the year 1941. An attorney by profession, he was an fervent believer of Shirdi Sai Baba. In the beginning, he worshipped a portrait of Baba beneath a tamarind tree on the street where the temple is now currently located. Later, he relocated the portrait to a small house in Nanjunda Rao Colony in Mylapore. Swamiji built the current temple with support from his friend J.D. Pannalal, and performed the first consecration.
All India Sai Samaj
The All India Sai Samaj is an group established by Sri Narasimhaswamiji. It dates back seven decades. Its core objective is to propagate the life and teachings of Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi. Through two decades of untiring preaching, during which he toured almost the whole of India, Sri Swamiji made the name of Sri Sai Baba as popular as that of Siva, Rama and Krishna. Sri Swamiji wrote many books underlining that Sri Sai Baba’s mission was to bring together two communities opposed to each other – the Hindus and Muslims – within a common fold. Sai Baba through his teachings promoted a religion of love with peace and harmony. Baba belonged to no specific religion or faith, and always made it clear that he was neither Hindu nor Muslim, with his birth and early life shrouded in mystery.
