About The Temple


The Parasurama Lingeswarar temple of Ayanavaram is not very enormous. There is a Raja gopuram (temple tower) for this temple. Legend and Stories


According to the legend, Parasurama, the incarnation (symbol) of Lord Maha Vishnu, executed his own mom. With a specific end goal to dispose of his wrongdoing, Parasurama worshiped Lord Shiva and that Shiva linga is called as Parasurama Lingeswarar. According to another legend, Lord Brahma otherwise known as Ayan washed up in this temple tank and revered Lord Shiva; subsequently, the place was called as Ayanpuram and later it got to be Ayanavaram.
