Haleshwar Temple

Haleshwar sanctuary is one of the most established sanctuaries of tezpur which is situated around 10kms north of Tezpur. This sanctuary is the most seasoned sanctuary worked by the lord who set up the capital of Kamrupa at Harupeswar. As indicated by Mythology, a "linga" was found by a cultivator while he was furrowing in the fields. Cultivator is otherwise called "Halowa" vernacularly so the term Haleswar is gotten from the word 'Halowa'. A sanctuary was built at first on it and later Ahom ruler Rudra Singha developed the sanctuary in 1705 A.D. The strength of this sanctuary is that it is a love put for both Vaishavites and Shivaites.
