Angalamman Temple

The Angalamman Temple is located in Choolai, in Chennai, and is dedicated to God Shiva and Goddess Angalamman. In one shrine the Goddess Angalamman is worshipped in the form of an idol carrying a child and in the second shrine, God Shiva, known here as Viswanathan, is found in the form of Shiva Linga. Smaller shrines are dedicated to Visalakshi, Ganapathy, Murugan, Nataraj-Sivakami who are also found in this temple. The Goddess appears as a women suffering from labour pain lying with her mouth open. Behind the sanctum sanctorum are the shrines of God Vinayaka, God Nataraja in the name of Thandavarayan and Angala Parameswari.

Meaning -I offer my salutations to you mother Durga, who is present in all beings and has all power, save us from all our wrongdoings O mother of the universe.

Yaa Devi Sarva Bhooteshu Shakthi Roopena Samsthita Namastasyai Namastasyai Namastasyai Namo Namaha

Meaning -Salutations to the Goddess who resides as Shakti in all beings.
