Adi Pureeswaran Temple

The Adi Pureeswaran Temple is located in Chintadripet, India and is dedicated to God Shiva. It was built during the rule of the East India Company in the 1740s, as one of the twin temples. The main idol is a huge Shiva Linga, with Murugan and Ganesh on either side of the entrance and the Sanctum Santorum. There is a separate shrine for Goddess Tirupa Sundari too.

Aum Trayambakam Yajaamahey Sugandhim Pusti Vardhanam Urvaarukamiva Bandhanaath Mrutyor Muksheeya Maamritaat

Meaning -We worship the fragrant Lord Shiva, who has 3 eyes and who cultivates all beings. May He free me from death, for immortality, as even a cucumber is separated from its bond with the vine.
