Chamunda Devi Temple

Overview


This temple of Goddess Chamunda Devi is located at the convergence of the Alaknanda River. The goddess is worshipped as the consort of Rudra, the Shiva Avatar in the temple.
Chamunda Devi and Jagdamba Temples are of immense religious importance, as is the Rudranath Temple, which is the site where Narad Muni sat in meditation, seeking the help of Shiva in mastering music. A small distance north of Rudraprayag is the Agasteshwar Mahadev Temple, which honours the wise sage Agastya, and features stone carved images of several gods.

Railways

The Rishikesh Railway Station is the nearest railhead to Rudraprayag. It is a small railway station with few trains.

Road

Tourists can reach Rudraprayag by bus. This place is located on the National Highway-58, which connects Delhi to Badrinath. All buses travelling from Delhi to Badrinath pass through Rudraprayag on the way to Joshimath, during summers. Regular buses are also available from Rishikesh to Rudraprayag.
