Vithoba Temple

This brick and stone building, that has a porch, an inner temple and a spire, has an idol similar to that of the idol in the Pandharpur Vithoba temple. According to legend, Vishwanath Devdatta, a blind Brahman, was left behind a group that was headed to Pandharpur to see Lord Vithoba there. Distraught that he would not be able to see the God, the Brahman sat by the river and refused to eat. Seeing this, Lord Vithoba, took the form of a Brahman and tempted Vishwanath to eat but the Brahmin simply refused to do so. Pleased with his devotion, Lord Vithoba assumed his original form and blessed Vishwanath, and also promised to stay at this place at his request. Tatya Kakirde built this temple in 1755. The shrine has a 2 and a half feet tall Vithoba idol, flanked by Radha and Rukmini idols to his right and left respectively.
