Thiruthindishvarar Temple

Overview : Thiruthindishvarar temple is located at Thindivanam in Tamil Nadu, India. The place has been named as Tindirivanam from Tamil, Tindiri meaning Tamarind and Vanam meaning Jungle. The linga was found underneath the tamarind tree, and so the name Thiruthindishvarar. Worshipped by Sages Valmiki, Dwarapalakas, Vyasar (securities) of Lord Shiva, Thindi and Mundi, Gillali, Gilli. Thindeeswaram (Thindivanam) is named after Thindi who worshipped God Shiva in this place and Mundeeswaram is named after Mundi who worshipped God Shiva. Navakkarasar sang hymns on God Shiva in this place. A big temple with brick work at the top and stone work at the bottom of the temple.The vimanam was fitted by Sage Vyasar. Thevara Vaipu Sthalam with Swayambu linga called as Thiru Thiruthindishvarar with Maragadavalli amman.
