The Sri Venkatachalapathy temple is located in Usilampati and is dedicated to God Venkatachalapathy. The story behind the inception of the temple involves a group of people who went on a pilgrimage. During the journey, they stopped and tried to move the grinding stone from the cart to prepare some food. But they were unable to do so. They began to pray to the God thinking that they had committed a mistake. The God then told them that God Venkatachalapathi was at the place where they were unable to move the grinding stone. They lit a lamp there and prayed to the God. When they later informed the king Thirumalai Naicker, the king built a temple there. This is said to the favourite shrine of Vanamamalai Jeer. As per scriptures, Indra was relieved of the curse he incurred here. He is said to have performed Angapradakshina in this temple.
