The Chandrasekhara Swami Temple is located in Chandrasekhara Puram and is dedicated to God Shiva and God Chandra. There are different names for God Shiva known by different names in different places. It is said that Chandra bhagwan, who is at the second place in Navagrahas in this temple, recovered from his curses by worshipping God Shiva. Chandra Bhagwan has 27 wives - 27 stars. He went to visit the God after hearing the news about the birth of his son (Vinayaka). Chandra ignored Vinayaka who was standing at the door. It is said that Chandra bhagwan showed love only to two of his 27 wives and because of this reason, the other 25 wives who were angry with Chandra bhagwan also cursed him. Chandra bhagwan lost all his 64 phases due to these curses. When he went to God Shiva and sought his help, the God told him to visit 64 Shiva temples and worship him to regain all the 64 phases. After regaining 63 phases, he came to Chandrasekharapuram to regain the 64th phase. The sthalapurana states that the place got the name Chandrasekharapuram because of this reason.

Meaning -We worship the fragrant Lord Shiva, who has 3 eyes and who cultivates all beings. May He free me from death, for immortality, as even a cucumber is separated from its bond with the vine.
