Legends and Stories

It has been said that the temple belongs to the Pahcam peetha of Pushtimargiya Ballabh Sampradya.. The Pushtimargi believe in the theory that with the grace of God a Jeeva (soul) receives Pushti (noursihent) and develops. Acharya Ballabha developed this sentiment and he propounded his well-known philosophical doctrine of Pushtimarg of Vedanta. Although the main formula of Pushtimarg is found in the Upanishads, yet Shri bhagwat Puran propounds this theory. In Kathopnishad, it has been said that the Jeeva whom god loves receives Pushti (graceful nourishment from him) Ballabhacharyaji believed that all souls are parts of the supreme soul (Paramatma). The souls are like sparks of fire of Parmatma.

Though they are different, but essentially they are one. He, therefore, advocated that no pain should ever be given to any soul. Self control, for bearance, hearing of Lords names, thinking of God and thought of him. They all are the mental services of God. Devotion is of two kinds. Maryada Bhakti and Pushti Bhakti. In the first, we require the knowledge of Shastras and ritual actions, but in the latter a longing for the deity, a constant remembrance of him, singing and dancing in his love are enough. In pushtimarg, the devotee desires nothing but a darshan of his love. Surrender in total. It is also called Lakshna Bhakti.
