Simmakkal is blessed with a historic temple located North of the Meenakshi Amman temple where the main deity is Chokkanathar as Swayambu lingam with Goddess Menakshi ammai. Histroy laids down which remembers that once Chokkanathar stayed here to resolve the problem of Idaikkadar.
