The Matsyodari Devi temple is located some 21 km from the city of Jalna, at Ambad on a hill that looks like a fish. It is one of the oldest temples in the area and hosts a fair during the time of Navrathri every year. Ambad is a Tahsil and town with many half destroyed walls, gateways and buildings. According to local traditions, the town of Ambad was found by Amba Rishi, a Hindu Raja who was believed to have hidden in a cave of the hill to escape from the responsibility of running the government.
Jalna does not have an airport. Nearest airport is Chikkalthana Airport. One can easily get regular trains to Jalna from other major cities of the country. There are regular buses from other major cities of the country to Jalna.
