Manjunatha Temple

The acess has a 5 level colourful raja gopuram. If you go into the admirable and cool Veda mandapam with the dwasthabam, you can see Nandiswara lying beneath an intricate Rudhraksha Pandal, an after image not found in any other temple. The next mandapam is alleged Nada Mandapam where the seven pillars of music are lying. One has to cross over seven entrances to reach the sannadhi of Sri Brahmapureeswara. He is called so after he modified the destiny of Brahma. Brahma Sannadhi is to the left of the Nadha Mandapam.

The idol is larger about six feet on a lotus flower in Padmasana. Brahma is advised as the Adhidevatha of Guru Bhagavan, and actually he is covered in turmeric paste. The turmeric is as well accustomed as prasadam. If visited the temple around 7 am in the morning, one would be able to see the Nirmalya Darshan as well as alankaram. The destiny of the worshipper will change, worshipping this Brahma, for the better. But not each of us will be lucky enough to come here. Only if their destiny allows it can happen.

About half a km away from the main temple is found the jeeva samadhi of Saint Vyagrapadhar. The Stala Vruksham is “Magizha maram” which is estimated to be nearly 150 years old set up in the compound outside the temple containing 7 of the 12 lingams. Sage Pathanjali time and again left his physical body and stayed in the astral form for a lot of days in the magizha maram and carried out penance, as it is believed. The four lingams present in the chief temple are Brahmapureeswarar ,Pazhamalainathar ,Padhala Eswarar and Suttharathneswarar .The chief deity is Brahmapureeswarar . Pazhamalainathar is just opposite to Saint Padhanjali’s Jeeva samadhi . All the temples containing Jeeva Samadhi have a padhala lingam as well. Here it is present close to Chadikeswara. Suttharathneswarar is seen adjacent to the navagra.Thayumanavar is found at the front of the Amman Sannadhi . Rest of the seven lingams are set up in the neighboring campus.

In Tamil Nadu ,Pancha Bhootha Sthalangal are Tiruvannamalai, Kanchipuram, Thiruvaanaikaval Kalahasti and Chidambaram. This temple contains the lingams of the 5 elements in addition to saptharishis at the same place. They were installed by Lord Brahma so that the visiting devotees gets the advantage of worshipping the pancha bhoothas besides the saptharishis when they pray here. Each shrine has a specific architecture and dimension .The avudaiyars too are unique, some having the komukham on the left while others on the right.

The shrine of Kailasanathar has a 16 pillared hall with a large nandi in front of it. Also a tank called the Brahma Theertham is present... which is believed to have been created by Lord Brahma to perform puja to the Dwadasa Lingams, but the current form in which it is maintained leaves a lot to be desired.
