Mahadev Temple

Situated on the bank of the river Pak that flows through the village, this ancient Mahadev temple is the main attraction at Hivarkhed. The idols of Rama, Lakshmana, Sita, Hanuman, Dattatraya and Shiv linga are placed in a spacious chamber, to the west of the temple. A Tulsivrndavana, that contains the idols of many other deities, is present in the center of the enclosed courtyard. The spacious sabhamandap has another Tulsivrndavana with two graceful white marble Nandis. The linga is carved in such a way that the lower half is carved out of black stone and the upper half is carved out of whitish flint stone. The vestibule where the linga lies also has idols of Nagoba (snake), Annapurna and Ganapati.
