Overview
Amaragiri Malekal Tirupati Hill Temple, Arisikere is popularly known as Lakshmi Venkatramana Swamy Temple and is located in Arisikere town of Hassan District, Karnataka. The 800-year old temple is located on a beautiful hillock that is covered with flowering plants as well as herbal and Ayurvedic plants. Amaragiri Malekal Tirupati Hill Temple is an architectural marvel too, renowned for its beautiful carvings of the Hoysala era. Atop the hill you can see a stone mantapa.
About the deity
The main deity, Lord Vishnu is worshipped here in the form of Venkataramanaswamy and Goddess Lakshmi is also worshipped.
About the temple
The Amaragiri Malekal Tirupati Temple is the only temple in Karnataka where you get to see the standing idol of Lord Venkateshwara, just like the one you see in the renowned Tirupati Temple in Andhra Pradesh. During the annual festival season the temple is thronged by huge crowds of pilgrims and tourists.
Legends and Stories
The Tirupati Hill temple is about 800 years old. As per mythological stories, the principal deities Srinivasa and Padmanabha were installed by Sage Vasishta Maharishi. It is believed that Lord Rama had visited this temple. Tourists and pilgrims come here in big numbers during the annual festival season. The Amaragiri Malekar Tirupati temple is the only temple where you get to see the standing idol of Lord Venkateshwara (just like the one you see at Tirupati).
