Overview
Goonj is about ten miles south-west of Vada. On the west bank of a pond, the ruins of a temple of Amba are situated, which is said to have fallen a hundred years ago. About half a kilometre from the village, a little way up Bargavram hill, stands a temple of Bargavram the sixth incarnation of Vishnu.
The villagers say it was built 400 years ago. The one who built it was probably one of the Koli chiefs of Jawahar from whom the temple holds a grant of fifty acres of land. The temple is built with neatly cut stones set in concrete. There are doors with images of Ganpathy over two of them. The idol of the god is the figure of a man in bas-relief.
