The Arulmigu Pranadeswarar Temple is located in Thirumangalakudi and is dedicated to God Arulmigu Pranadeswarar. Thirumangalakudi is known as Panchamangala Kshetra - There are five main mangalams here. The place is Mangalakudi. The Goddess is Mangalambika. The tower is Mangala Vimanam. The Holy Water is Mangala Theertham. The Vinayaka is Mangala Vinayaka. Everything about this temple is about Mangalam or prosperity. King Kulothunga once ordered that his Minister Alaivanar be beheaded as he used the revenues of the state to build a temple without getting the king's permission. The minster was beheaded and as per his request, the body was brought to Thirumangalakudi to be cremated. Alaivanar's wife went to the Mangalambikai temple and prayed to the Goddess to restore the life of her husband. There was a sound from the sky and the man came back to life. He went into the temple and embraced the deity there calling him Prananadeswara.

Meaning -Oh Lord Shiva who is seated on Mount Kailash, where the moon decorates his forehead and the king of serpents crown his head, who is merciful and removes delusion, You alone can protect me. I surrender to thee.
