Jivitputrika Vrat

JivitPutrika vrat (Jitiya Puja) is one of the popular festivals of Bihar observed in September-October. In 2017, Jivatputrika Vrat date is September 13. It is observed on eighth day in Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month in North Indian Hindi calendar. Jitiya is observed by mothers for wellness of their sons. They keep fast throughout the day. Bihari women feel that that every woman has to perform the vrata for happiness and prosperity of the family. Jivatputrika puja is a Nirjala Vrata as the devotees observe very strict fast and they abstain even from water. Jitiya is commenced for three days.
