Overview
Shri Mahalasa Narayani Temple is Located at a town named Kumta, in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, India. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Narayani who is also know as Goddess Lakshmi.
About The Temple
Shri Mahalasa Narayani temple is quite an old temple which established about 450 years ago in Kumta. The temple houses few unique and artistic wooden carvings on the ceiling of the Sandhya Mantap. The walls are artistically painted in red and white lime. There are also ancient mortar which are of historical importance. The temple reflects the dexterity of ancient Indian craftsmen and is surely a monument to be preserved. The wall paintings depicts several episodes from the epics Mahabharata and Ramayana. This temple is literally a museum of rare wooden carvings and wall paintings.
