The Shiva Lingam on the tomb of the sage will not be touched by anyone. Hence the Lord came to be known as Theendathimenishwarar (the one who is untouched). The Goddess here has a nuptial thread sculpted on her neck. Hence, this place is believed to relieve one of matrimonial alliance problems. Lord Muruga graces in a wedding form here as he married Valli here. Valli, who after a long penance tried to marry Lord Muruga was disappointed when he did not turn up. Heartbroken, she was about to jump in a pyre and was stopped by Lord Shiva who appeared before her. Hence, the Lord is also known as Thaduthaleeshwarar (one who stops death).
