Tiruvottriyur Agastheeswarar Temple

The Tiruvottriyur Agatheeswarar Temple is located in Tiruvottriyur and is dedicated to God Agatheeswarar. is synonymous with Thyagaraja temple and Vadivudai Amman. Just a few minutes, if you walk further, you will find a Shiva temple. It is believed that the great sage Agasthiyar has visited this temple and hence the shrine got the name "Agastheeswarar". This temple has been built in North direction. Though this sthala is old, the structure of the temple appears to be somewhat new. The origin of the temple is not known. The main deity is Agastheeswarar (a Kubera Linga). Though it is small, the linga looks powerful. One can see Akhilandeswari, the consort of Shiva, accompanying him in a separate prahara.

Meaning -We worship the fragrant Lord Shiva, who has 3 eyes and who cultivates all beings. May He free me from death, for immortality, as even a cucumber is separated from its bond with the vine.
