Thirunathikkarai Siva Temple

Overview : The main deity of this temple is God Shiva, this temple is also amongst the 12 Shivalaya temples, and this temple is interestingly considered to be the fourth one amongst the 12. The temple was built by a King named Rajarajachola.The temple is made up of Stones and is based on the Kerala style of architecture. There is a pond which is near by the temple and it is known as Theertha Kulam, this pond is used for pujas, devotees take some water from the pond and there is also a Garden which is known as Nandavam which has a variety of flowers, plants, trees and fruits too.In the temple there is a statue of a bull placed which is right in front of God Shiva, it is believed that the statue of bull is made up of a rock which is found nearby the temple and it itself went there and got established in front of the Statute of God Shiva.There are evidence of the rope of the Bull which can be still relocated on the rock.Previously the temple was way too small, but now the temple has been explored and now big enough, so the devotees coming to this temple to worship believe that the statue of the Bull is growing day by day, these are few believes what the devotees have who come here to visit there God.The local language the bull is called as Nanthi and this is one of the reason the name of the village is kept as ThirunanthiKarai.
