Thal Monolithic Temple

Situated on the banks of the river Banaganga, this place was discovered in 1916 and is known as Ek Hathia Deol. This temple, carved out of a quartzite rock, rests on a rocky platform and two 3-ft wide parallel cuttings, separate the shrine. According to the chiseling on this 20 ft tall rock, one can conclude that the artisan was not able to complete this project. The Shivling is placed on the shrine that has two pillars supporting a portico. Similar to the Navadurga temple at Jageshwar, this temple has a recess between the jangha and the sikhara with beam heads. The mandapa has a domed roof in a step pattern.
