Tanjaipureeswarar Temple

The Thanjaipureeswarar Temple is located in Alagupuri and is dedicated to God Thanjaipureeswarar. The temple is considered one of the Devara Vaippu Sthalam and is located at Alagapuri on the banks of River Vennaru. The temple gopuram has three storeys and a Dwajasthambam. The presiding deity in this temple is a Swayambu Lingam known as Arulmigu Tanjapureeswarar and his consort Anandhavalli Amman. The sthala vruksham (or sacred tree) of the temple is Vilvam. The sacred water bodies are called Veearu and Sivagangai Teertham. Other deities in the temple are Vinayakar, Subramanyar, Natarajar, Dakshina Moorthy, Kubera and Thirunavakkuarasar. Sri Mahalakshmi occupies her place near Kubera as Dhanalakshmi and Dairya Lakshmi. (Dhanalakshmi - Goddess of Wealth, Dairyalakshmi – Goddess of Courage).

Meaning -We worship the fragrant Lord Shiva, who has 3 eyes and who cultivates all beings. May He free me from death, for immortality, as even a cucumber is separated from its bond with the vine.
