One can view an old but beautiful Surya temple near the pond. The Sun idol in the temple is said to be from ancient times (more than a decade old). An age old pillar, probably made of wood is claimed to be placed in the center of the pond though it is not always visible. A number of statues could be seen inside the water of pond. A large Mela is organised on Kartik Snan (bath) each year near the Suraj Kund where a number of people from Lucknow and adjoining districts. Suraj Kund is situated near Daliganj bridge and adjacent to Planetorium in Lucknow and is said to be an ancient sacred water pond comprising 5 wells. Nawab Asafudduaula of Lucknow rebuilt and renovated the ghats. It is said that the water of the Kund had medicinal value. The kund was initially made of Lakhaori bricks.
