Sundareshwarar Temple

During a war between the Kauravas and the Pandavas, Sage Veda Vyasa advised Arujuna to worship Lord Shiva for getting the Pasupatha Missile to fight the enemies. Arjuna reached this place and performed intense worship. Duryodhana sent demon Mookasura, disguised as a pig to disturb Arjuna, but was shot by an arrow by Arjuna. Lord Shiva reached the place in the form of a hunter with his wife and claimed that he had shot the pig and tried to take it. Arjuna refused to part with the animal. A war of words between them ensued. Lord Shiva disclosed himself to Arjuna and blessed him with Pasupatha. Parvathi raised a doubt about Arjuna's eligibility for the boon. Lord told Mother that Arjuna had the Matsya Rekha - A lucky line in the palm and deserved the boon. Arjuna obediently showed his palm to Mother and got her approval as well. Arjuna begged the Lord to bless the devotees.
