Srisailam Devasthanam

The Sathavahanas were the first empire builders in South India who are linked to the history of this temple. The presiding deity of this kshetram God Mallikarjuna Swamy was revered not only by the Sathavahanas but also by great rulers like the Pallavas the Vishnukundis, the Chalukyas, the Kakatiyas, the Reddy Kings, the Vijayanagaram Emperors and Chatrapathi Shivaji. This holy place houses one of the twelve Jyothirlingas along with his consort Goddess Bhramaramba Devi, who is one among the eighteen self - manifested Mahasakthis. Srisailam boasts of a rare, one-of-a-kind unique combination of Jyothirlingam and Mahasakthi. This makes it a much sought after place of worship.
