The Ramadevara betta (hill) is a hindu shrine rising more than 3000 feet. Lord ram is said to have visited here during his 14 years exile. The top of the hill has a beautiful temple of lord pattabhi rama. The climb is not very strenuous and there are nearly 450 steps to reach this lovely temple. Before You reach the main temple there are other smaller temples of shiva, hanuman and ganapati on the way. Once you reach the top you get to see a beautiful pond. On the right of the pond you can see a rameshwara shrine, a parvati shrine. On The other side of the pond you have the pattabhi rama temple. In the temple entrance you can see the image of lord rama pardoning the demon kaakasura.Inside The sanctorum you can view the beautiful idols of rama, his brother lakshmana, sita and his beloved follower hanuman. All these idols are carved from one single stone. These idols are also called as “sugriva prathistapana” murthy. The name has come due to the way rama hugs sita. The Temple also has the figures of famous vaishnavite saints ramanujacharya in the meditative pose, deshicharya in padmasana (a yogic pose). There are also figures of serpents, garuda, sri chakra etc inside the temple. The temple is over 1000 years old and it was built my magadi chieftain kempegowda.
