This temple is located in Malur Taluk in Kolar district of Karnataka at a distance of 40 Kms from Bangalore. The presiding deity is Lord Vishnu in the form of Prasanna Venkateshwara. According to mythology the idol here was installed by the God of Fire "Agni on advice from Lord Shiva to help cure him of the curse he had incurred by injuring Takshaka" The king of snakes during his attempt to eat the herbs on the Kanadava hill to cure himself of his stomach ailments.
