Located at Malleswaram, Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Temple is one of the most popular temples in Bangalore City. The temple is run by the Managing Committee, under the aegis of the Endowments and Charitable Trust, Government of Karnataka. The managing committee consists of the executive officer, the priests of the temple and interested devotees who are nominated by the government. On climbing the steps near the sthambam, one reaches the main entrance of the temple. Beautifully sculpted elephants are on both sides of the steps and sthambam. There is a main hall which leads to the Garbagriha where devotees can worship Lord Narasimha, with Sri Lakshmi on his lap, tongue out, yet with a gentle look, and abhaya hastham signifying reassurance. Narasimha avatara has great significance and importance. The Lord appeared in a very ferocious form to validate the words of His devotee, Prahlada, who said "Thoonilum Iruppaar Thurumbilum Iruppaar" and proved His omnipresence.
