This Shivastalam is located near Kannigaipper, near Periyapalayam near Chennai. The area around the temple is known as Maadavilagam. Please do not take this road. I travelled back on this road and almost busted my suspensions . There is scarcely any habitation around luckily a few lorry drivers were found drinking in a groove who guided me properly to red hills.The temple itself is very small and neat. It is built in the Somaskanda pattern with Skanda in between Sivan and Parvathi sannidhi. Ambal is known as Anandavalli here .


About the Temple


The temple had worshipful devotees as God Brahma, Mother Umadevi and The temple had reverential fans as Muruga. The little Rajagopuram is confronting east. Here the God is having a rudraksha in his hand signifying creation which he took over from Brahma temporarily. The ambal sanidhiis after the Murugan sanidhi. About the Deity


Muruga possesses all strength in the temple. He is before the sanctum sanctorum as Lord Dandayuthapani demonstrating a Chinmudra, eyes shut in contemplation. His ears are long. Legend/Story


Shiva is adored here by Saint Bhrigu with Kallil blooms (Huge Indian fence desert flora) subsequently he is likewise called Kalilishwarar. God Muruga came to Tirupandhurai, made a Shivalinga and worshipped to regain His skills. Pleased Shiva granted the speaking skill to His divine Son. Hence, God is praised as Pranaveswarar – God of Pranava Mantra.

Significance


God of the temple is a swayambumurthy. Those unable to speak, suffering from stammering bathe in the Mangala Theertham and perform abishek to God Muruga with honey for 48 days to gain speech skills.


Accessibility


This shivasthalam temple is located 4 Kms from Kanniputtur village otherwise known as Kannigaipper. To reach Kanniputtur village, one has to travel by bus from Chennai to Periyapalayam via Kannigaipper route and get down at Kannigaipper bus stop. A branch road from here goes to Tirukandalam. Bus route No.58-D from Chennai Koyambedu Market to Vengal goes via Kannigaipper and Tirukandalam. The bus stops at Tirukandalam near the temple
