Siddhi Vinayaka Temple

Overview

Siddhi Vinayaka Temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesh. It is located in Bagalur, Krishnagiri district, Tamil Nadu, India.

About The Temple

There are Vimanas in the sanctum sanctorum. The depiction of Kailash Darshan with Vrushab (Bull vehicle of Lord Shiva) in the front part of the temple with Lord, Mother, Vinayaka, Sage Naradha, and Subramanya is very beautiful that would not allow the devotee to leave the place.

The Yagasala is in the ground floor. There are steps to reach the upper ground. The steps teach the lesson that he/she progresses step by step in life. At the top, the presiding deity – Lord Vinayaka looks as if He is waiting to grace His devotees. Karpaka Vinayaka and Manicka Vinayaka are on both sides of the presiding deity. His vehicle (the mouse) and the Peeta are before Him.

Mother Swarnambika graces from the right side of Lord Vinayaka with Mother Meenakshi and Mother Visalakshi on Her both sides. The significant worship of carrying Milk Pots attributed to Lord Muruga and Shakti temples is very famous here. Devotees observe fast and carry milk pots on Vinayaka Chaturthi day.

Lord Vinayaka representing the power of Mother Shakti graces in the temple sitting on a stage called Avudayar on which Shivalingas are installed. The Lord has a broken tusk in his right hand and the Modhagam (sweet pudding) on the left facing the north east direction (Eesanya direction) belonging to Lord Shiva, showing his left foot indicating that the devotee would be protected from his troubles when he surrenders to the Lord.

It is believed that worshipping this Vinayaka would amount to worshipping Shiva-Shakti together. Unlike the other temples, this Vinayaka temple has two floors.

Festivals

Besides the annual abishek festival on Moola star day in the month of Chithirai (April-May) Vinayaka Chaturthi, Sankatahara Chaturthi, Deepavali, Margazhi Palliyezhuchi (wake-up festival), Pongal, Thai Amavasya – new moon day in January-February, Poornima puja for Mother-Goddess, Navarathri, Krithika days each month for Lord Muruga, Sashti and special pujas on Poosam Star day in Thai month (January-February) are the festivals celebrated in the temple.

Significance

For adverse aspects caused by any planet, the devotee can perform the remedial worship (dosha nivarthi puja) in this temple.

Thanks Giving

Those facing heavy debt burden, begin a worship of lighting 12 lamps with coconut oil on a Suklapaksha Chaturthi day (4th day after the new moon day) and continue the same on each Chaturthi day (4th day both from the new and full moon days) reducing the number of lamps one by one each time. The philosophy is that the debt burden would begin to come down as the number of lamps is reduced. Hence Lord Vinayaka of the temple is worshipped as “Debt Relief Vinayaka”.
