Overview


Jamnagar is a city and a municipal corporation, located in Jamnagar district, in the Indian state of Gujarat. Jamnagar is the sixth largest city in the Indian state Gujarat after Ahmedabad,Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Bhavnagar. The city was built up substantially by Maharaja Kumar Shri Ranjitsinhji in the 1920s, when it was known as Nawanagar. The city lies just to the south of the Gulf of Kutch and is 337 km west of the state capital, Gandhinagar. Recently, Jamnagar has shot to prominence as Reliance Industries, India's largest private company, established the world's largest oil refinery near the village of Moti Khavdi in Jamnagar. It is also home to an Essar Oil refinery, located near the town of Vadinar. Jamnagar has consequently been nicknamed the 'Oil City of India'.


About The Temple


Bal Hanuman Temple

Bala Hanuman temple is situated near Lakhota lake. Lakhota lake is situated near middle of the city. One can get Auto Rickshaw from any part of the city to Bala Hanuman temple. Super Market area is the nearest area with hotels to the temple. One can reserve an Auto Rickshaw in 50 INR. Auto Rickshaw is main transport medium available in the city. From Bala Hanuman temple one can get the return auto rickshaw as well to the Super Market area. Sometimes if an auto is not found at the front gate of the temple, one needs to walk down the road. It is around couple of minutes’ walk. Since most of the temples and other attractions are situated around this area, one should book hotel here only.

Shri Bala Hanuman Sankirtan Mandir is the oldest temple established by Shri Prembhikshuji Maharaj in 1963-64. The temple has become very popular as it has been recorded in Guinness Book of world record. Since last 48 years day and night holy chanting is continous.

This continous chanting of Rama Naam for 24 Hours has established not only in Jamnagar, but at 7 different cities including Jamnagar. Various centers like Jamnagar, Dwarka, Rajkot, Porbandar, Mahuva, Junagadh and Muzaffarpur in Bhihar the Rama Naam is chanted and has been started in the name of Shri Prembhikshuji Maharaj.

In the year 1964 on 1st of August, at Jamnagar 24 hours referred as "Akhand Rama Naam" was started. Then after in 1967 on 12th May at Dwarka, in the same year i. e 1967 on 20th May at Porbandar, in 1984 on 22nd April at Rajkot, in 1997 on 20th April at Mahuva and in 1996 on 15th August at Junagadh Ankhand Rama Nam was started.

Also in cities like Khambhaliya, Bhatiya and more than 40 different centers daily for some period of time the Rama Nam is chanted.

It has been builded on South-Eastern portion of Ranmal Lake also known as Lakhota Lake and makes the temple overwelming. Every devotee in the temple is drenched in the hymn of Shri Rama and Shri Bala Hanumanji.


Architecture of Temple


Built in front of the Lake Ranmal, the Bala Hanuman Temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, a true disciple of Lord Ram and Sita. The main attraction of this temple is the continuous enchanting of the Ram Dhun 24X7. The archeological importance of this temple is much noticeable and praise worthy. Every year this temple is visited by flock of devotees.

The architecture of the Bala Hanuman Temple is striking and impeccable as it is made at the front of Lake Ranmal, while is dyed in wool to the worthy of Lord Hanuman. The entire temple is exquisitely built and has beautiful carvings on it. It has pillars that support the walls of the temple.

Pratap Villa

An exquisite Pratap Vilas Palace was constructed during the reign of Royal Highness Jam Ranjitsinhji. This is an exceptional palace which is visited for number of reasons. This Palace has European architecture that has Indian carvings which reflect a completely unique appeal. Built as a replica of Victoria Memorial Building in Calcutta, this palace has dome which is constructed as per the Indian architecture. The palace remains open from 10am to 5pm.

Solarium

Best known as Ranjit Institute of Poly Radio Therapy, this magnificent architecture was constructed by Jam Shri Ranjitsinhji at the times of his rule. He brought an expert from France who supervised the construction of this temple. A slowly revolving tower offers whole day sunlight in this building. This building is also considered as an exceptional wonder of the world which is open to be visited during the working hours.

Ghumli

Ghumli is a village which is located approximately 35 kms away from Porbandar, in Jamnagar. Ghumli is also referred as Bhumli, which was once an old capital of Jewtha rulers of Gujarat.

Barda Wildlife Sanctuary

This sanctuary is located in Gujarat which is nearly 15 kilometers away from Porbandar while 100 kms from Gir Forest national Park. Badra Wildlife Sanctuary was considered as a private reserve for Jamnagar and Porbandar. It is said that nearly 4,000 people live in Barda.


Legend and stories


Shri Prembhikshuji was born in 1812 in Chhatauni, a small village in Bihar in a religious farmer's family. After becoming sannyasin, he started the tradition of non-stop (Akhand) chanting of Rama Naam at Jamnagar and then at remaining 6 centres at Dwarka, Porbandar, Junagadh, Rajkot, Mahuva, and Muzaffarpur. The history of this temple is linked with that of Jamnagar, Gujarat if we speak of the essence of this place. According to a legendary epic, Ramayana, Hanuman, who was an ardent devotee of Lord Ram, always enchanted the mantra, Jai Ram, Shree Ram. Presently the mantra Jai Ram, Shree Ram, Jai Jai Ram, is enchanted 24 hours. This ritual was started by Late Saint Shri Prembhikshuji Maharaj. It is said that this Saint was a strong devotee of Bala Hanuman ji. The pleasing Akhand Ram Naam is chanted every single minute without any halt.

This temple is an ancient temple which was established by Shri Prembhikhshji Maharaj in the year 1963-64. It is worth noticing that the temple has been enchanting the mantra or the akhand name of Shri Ram since the last 48 years.

Hanuman Jayanti Festival

Hanuman jayanti is very famous among devotee of lord bajalji due to birthday of ram bhakt hanuman ji.

Hauman ji is representation of enormous power and strength . He shows immortal devotion in the lotus feet of lord shri ram and called sankat mochak for his impossible work . this devotional process is considered to gain power and good luck in life.

It is said that lord shri hanuman ji took birth on chaitra Shukla Purnima(full bright moon day ) in the lap of Mother Anjana and keshari was his father . he is also called son of wind (PawanPutra). He is 11th rudra avatar ( incarnation) of lord shiva and took birth as Vanara god. When it will be comes in 2015. On Hanuman Jayanti celebration, all the Hanuman temples have great crowd as devotee started pooja from early morning after taking holy bath. Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated with great enthusiasm. The devotees visit Hanuman temples and apply sindoor to his whole body as Hanuman himself having sinduri color. They offer Prasad including Laddus , Banana, Peddas ,Gud Channa to Lord Hanuman. They offer wreath of flowers to him. They chant his mantra, hanuman chalisa and sudarkand in the revoke of his memories also at last performing his aarti. They donate food cloth to needy and the poor.

Bala Hanuman temple aarti

The main attraction of Bala Hanuman temple is the Aarti. Evening Aarti is more picturesque than the morning aarti. Above video shows evening aarti atmosphere. The evening aarti time is from 7. 30 PM to 8 PM. First Dhup starts and then Aarti starts. The main priest performs the rituals while others do the chanting of Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram. The whole thing is accompanied by musical instruments. Prasad is distributed after evening aarti. No payment is necessary for prasad. Whole thing is properly organized. Drinking water facility is available on other side of the temple but within the temple compound. The main deity of temple is idol of Shri Ram, Shri Lakshman and Devi Sita along with God hanuman.

Accommodation


There aren’t many places to eat at in front of temple gate. There are some small shops selling toys. One has to walk for about five minutes. >From the front gate of temple walk down straight along with the lake, and after around 5 minutes one can see multiple food stalls selling all kinds of food items.

Best time to visit: The best time to visit this temple is in the months of January, February, March, April, May, October, November, and December. Rest depending on the individual preference, one can visit the temple between 6am to 10pm.


Significance


The belief surrounding the Bala Hanuman temple is that the temple protects people from natural calamities and other problems. It is the reason for peace and prosperity of the city. Inside the temple, taking pictures of the idol are not allowed.

The prayer goes on all the day but is great during the prayer times. During prayer times the temple is filled with visitors. People participate in the prayer as well. The prayer is also accompanied by musical instruments as well.

Reaching Jamnagar

As mentioned above Bala Hanuman temple is situated in Jamnagar. The IRCTC station code of Jamnagar is JAM. It is the nearest station to the temple. It is well connected with other parts of the country. So finding a train to Jamnagar will not be an issue. The problem is frequency of the trains. Mostly it is connected with weekly trains to other parts of country excluding Mumbai and Ahmedabad. So one really needs to plan a visit taking this fact into consideration.

Since we had to cover others parts of Gujarat as well this was not an issue. One can cover Sarnath and Dwarka along with Jamnagar. One can cover all tourist sports of Jamnagar in couple of days. But if one wants to visit Jamnagar alone then one needs to keep the communication restrictions in mind.

Jamnagar also has an airport. The airport is well connected to Mumbai. One can also look if there are flights from other parts of the country. Apart from Train and Flight it is also connected with Ahmedabad using Volvo buses. So one can reach Ahmedabad and from there can take either Bus or Train to reach Jamnagar.

Airport

A nearby airport is located 10 kms away from the town; hence it is very economical when compared to a taxi or rickshaw ride. Numerous domestic airlines connect Mumbai to Jamnagar.


Railways

There are regular trains on Western Railway Line that directly connect various cities of India to Ahmadabad.


Road

There are number of private luxury and state transport buses that connect Jamnagar to different cities of India and Gujarat.

Meaning -We salute Lanka's horror, Anjana's brave son, who ended Sita's sorrows, the ruler of monkeys and the one who killed Aksha, Ravana's son.
