Shree Manudevi Temple

Nestled between the lush green Satpuda ranges and near the tinkling waters of the Tapi river is the Shree Manudevi Temple. Jalgaon, Maharashtra is very famous for this beautiful temple which houses Matha Manudevi, a manifestation of Goddess Shakti. Set in a picturesque location, the temple is surrounded by hillocks and there is a cascading waterfall right in front of the temple. This particular form of the Goddess is significant because she represents the combined energies of strength, intelligence and power emanated by the holy trinity-Lord Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma. Legend has it that the three Gods visited the very same location of the temple to discuss the ravage caused by the demon Mahishasura. Goddess Shakti visited them during their meditation and agreed to help them kill the demon. The Goddess assumed the form of "Sapthashrung Devi" who is feared for her fury against evil, and waged a fierce battle with the demon which lasted many years. The final battle was fought on the Sapthashrung mountains when the "Devi" destroyed the demon and his forces ultimately and brought peace and serenity back to the earthlings. The areas surrounding the Manudevi temple are dotted by many smaller temples where the various stages of the battle between "Dharma" and "Adharma" was fought. The temple is located approximately 10 kms after crossing the Adgaon-Kasarkheda on one of the exits off the Yaval-Chopda state highway. The approaching roads to the temple are serviceable two lane roads which have been maintained well by the trustees and board members. The roads are dotted with trees and the the final climb to the temple which is located at a height of 500 metres, is very pleasant. It is believed that Lord Parshurama manifests himself in these trees and is actually welcoming the pilgrims for the darshan of Shree Manudevi.
