It is believed that this temple has been constructed on the site where Sarada Devi expressed her wish to marry Ramakrisna Paramahamsa. According to story, when someone playfully asked whom would Sarada Devi want to marry, she said that she had chosen Ramakrisna Paramahamsa as her future husband. Sri Ramakrisna and Sarada Devi visited this temple regularly.
