The Peria Mariamman Temple is located in Erode and is dedicated to Peria Mariamman. The temple is said to have been built 1200 years ago by Kongu Cholas who ruled the region. In front of this temple line statue located,it have an beautiful art,"dhuvara balagarkal" located in both side of the temple and a "Parasuramar" statue is also seen. 1200 years ago, the ‘Kongu Cholas’ built this temple. The area of the temple is 3500 sq.ft. The entire temple was renovated in the year 1969 by devotees. Panguni Ther Thiruviza and Pongal is one of the special festivals of the temple. During this festival, every family in town offers and respects the ‘Goddess’ through their ‘Ma-vilaku’ workship.
