This temple is one among the 108 Divya desams and one of the 5 Anjambalams that is Pancha Pandava temples created by Nakula Paambanai Appan, facing towards west Kamalanathan is in standing position. In the west side entrance, one can find sculptures associated with Kalinga Narthana and also Dasavathara. Nam Azhvaar remarks Vanvandur as the one who features a dark face with red lips, lotus eyes, lotus feet and carries a Discus and Conch as his identification marks
