Navapashanam Navagraha Temple

Sri Navapashanam Navagraha temple is a God Shiva and Goddess Parvathy temple situated in the city of Devipatinam, Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu. Around 1000-2000 years of age, the temple names God Shiva as Thilakeswarar and the Goddess as Soundaryanayaki. Devipatinam, well known as the main spot on the planet where the nine planets or the navagrahas are situated inside the ocean likewise has this temple. The eight-outfitted Durga statue holding weapons in each is said to have executed the evil presence Mahishasura at this spot which was later constructed as a little temple and revered. In addition, there are different statues like the first statues of nine planets which got battered and are not unmistakable as any specific planet.The claim to fame of the temple is that nine wilted pieces of stone, which should be Navagrahas lies around hundred yards inside the ocean and the stones, incompletely submerged in water can be looked too. Lovers offer nine assortments of grains like paddy, maize, wheat, beats and so on to the divinities. Situated amidst the ocean, this temple is known not an awesome miracle since Puranic days. As per the legend, Sri Rama performed the Vinayaka Puja in Uppur and the Navagraha Puja in Devipatinam before undertaking the excursion to free Sita from Ravana's bondage in Lanka. According to the sacred writings, he introduced a modest bunch of sand and quieted the high tides with a raised hand and these Navagrahas introduced by Sri Rama are the Nava Bhasanas or stones gracing lovers in Devipatinam.
