Nagra Shiv Temple

Overview


Nagra Shiv Temple is located about 5Kms from Gondia, Maharashtra. Dating back to the 15th century, the temple is built in the Hemadpanthi style. The temple got its name from the word “Nagra” which has been derived from the name of Lord Nagraj. The amazing structure of the temple stands as a solid proof to the exemplary architectural brilliance of that era. The temple has 16 pillars which stands apart, without any joint. It also believed that there are underground houses beneath the temple. The main temple has a Shiva Linga. The temple complex also houses other temples exclusively devoted to Goddess Durga and Hanuman.

Since the temple is basically a Shiva shrine, the festival of Mahashivaratri is celebrated with much enthusiasm and galore. The temple attracts thousands of devotees every year.
