In the prashna (a branch of astrology answering the doubts of the devotee), it came to be known that she was the Vanadurga in the past. She was named Rajarajeswari and was installed in the present place.Goddess Shakti told the king in his dream near the Mullaikarai (around the jasmine trees) and asked him to build the temple. The king did so and while covering the roof after installing the idol, it caught fire at night. In the prashna, Goddess said that she was there as a child and would like to enjoy the Sun, Moon, stars, sky, air, wind and rain directly and directed the king to construct the sanctum sanctorum without a roof.During rainy days, the roof is formally covered with some palm leaves.
