Mullaikal Rajarajeswari Temple

Mullaikal Rajarajeswari Temple is located in Alappuzha, Kerala. The Moolavar of this temple is Rajarajeswari, Mullaikal Bhagavati. This temple is 1000 - 2000 years old. There are shrines for Ganesha, Murugan, Krishna, Anjaneya, Iyappa and Navagrahas. This was the place where the palace of the King of Shenbagacherry existed once. During that time, Goddess was here in the form of Vanadurga playing with her sister around the Jasmine trees here. An idol of the Goddess was found near the jasmine tree here. In the prashna (a branch of astrology answering the doubts of the devotee), it came to be known that she was the Vanadurga in the past. She was named Rajarajeswari and was installed in the present place. Goddess Shakti told the king in his dream near the Mullaikarai (around the jasmine trees) and asked him to build the temple. The king did so and while covering the roof after installing the idol, it caught fire at night. In the prashna, Goddess said that she was there as a child and would like to enjoy the Sun, Moon, stars, sky, air, wind and rain directly and directed the king to construct the sanctum sanctorum without a roof. During rainy days, the roof is formally covered with some palm leaves. The Ruler of world stands in an open space while the devotees worship her from a comfortable place. There are shrines for Ganeshar, Murugan, Krishna, Anjaneya, Iyappa and Navagrahas.
