Overview


Malleeswarar Temple is a Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is situated at the village of Karasangal, in Kanchipuram District of Tamil Nadu, India. The temple is around 2 km from the Karasangal bus stop. Karasangal is situated close to the city of Chennai and lies in the Tambaram-Padappai route. The place is found next to Manivakkam.


About The Deity


The chief deity of this temple is Lord Shiva who graces here as Lors Malleeswarar whip Mother Shakti is seen in the form of Devi Maragadambigai. Lord Brahma, Sri Mahavishnu, Lord Dakshinamurthy and Goddess Durga are found in the Koshtas (niches). Separate Shrines for Lord Vinayaga, Lord Muruga with his consorts Valli and Deivanai, Sri Chandikeswara and Navagrahas are present within the temple.

Karasangal is best known for the Sivarathri festival celebration at this Malleeshwaram temple. The festival is celebrated grandeur with 10,008 lamps being lit inside the temple. Special Pumas are also performed for the entire night.
