Maa Pendrani Temple

Maa Pendrani Temple is a highly revered shrine situated at Umarkot in Nabarangpur District of Orissa. Dedicated to Maa Pendrani, this temple was built by the then king Chaitanya Dev. Many devotees visit this temple and pay homage to Maa Pendrani, the most worshipped goddess of Koraput, Kalahandi and Balangir. Maa Pendrani of Umarkote is born out of a legend. A small village Pendra (Pendrahandi) near Umerkote worship a pure soul Pendrani, a married girl who was a victim of secret jealousy of her own brothers.

Meaning -According to this sloka, though the only source of satva, rajas and tamas (good, obsessive and dark) elements is God, they are not present within the God or the deity.

Tribhirgunamayairbhavairebhih Sarvamidam Jagat Mohitam Nabhijanati Mamebhyah Paramavyayam

Meaning -According to this sloka, the entire world doesn't recognize the eternal God beyond them, because they are consumed by the elements of satva, rajas and tamas (good, obssessive and dark).
